Welcome to the World of Tai Chi (Taijiquan)! Welcome to the World of getting Healthy! The beauty of learning a practice in Tai Chi is that you can go anywhere and do it! You do not need special equipment – just loose clothing, supportive shoes (if you choose to wear shoes) and practice space…………….
For the next 30 days, I thought I would keep a practice log………….reflecting both the challenges and benefits of my practice.

Well, although I practice each day, I have yet to enter into the computer world with it! So today I begin. It is raining here in Hawaii. This means I have to get out and practice in between the rain…………….
What I find most useful about my practice right now, is that it really calms me down. I immerse in with nature and remember who I am.

Today we had classes: Taijiquan and Taijijian…………….I really appreciate being able to have this in my life. Each time I practice or teach, I realize how lucky I am. Most people who have not learned appreciate the beauty of it, but are not in touch with how much one has to learn – and is always learning.

Have had some wonderful practices at the sea. We had a whale who hung out splashing its fluke the whole time.

I don’t understand where tai chi ends & qigong begins. Or is it taichiqon? I don’t understand why there are so many names, or what all the names of the moves & postures are.

Tai Chi or traditional spelling is Taijiquan, is a form of “qigong”. Qi meaning “your vital life force” and Gong meaning “the exercise or movement that you do to enhance your vital life force”, has many forms with many names – partly because it is so ancient and many people developed techniques through out the years. Basically, if you look at it from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, you perform different techniques or forms to help with different areas of the body. A sound practice is one that enhances the whole body and helps to promote health!!!!!!
